Blooming Marvellous

A good company came together for the Wales in Bloom Launch. Some travelling from as far afield as Anglesea and Pembrokeshire. The Old Barn Orangery made a perfect setting After a welcome by Carl Jefferson. The vice Chairman of the Old Hamlet of Llanmartin - who played host this year -the mayoress gave a speech emphasising their long connection with the hamlet and how well community spirit thrived amongst its residents The gathering also included a presentation by the Wales in Bloom Chairman Jim Goodwin in which he showed multiple slides of a contestant in the competition and asked everyone to act as a judge. An outline of scoring was given and the result given was similar in every case ! Out

Africamp Appeal

Dear the Old Hamlet of Llanmartin’s Residents Association, My names Hamish and I live in Llandevaud. I’m currently studying my A levels at Caerleon comprehensive school. I’ve been part of the old hamlet community all my life, coming to such as events at the barns at Christmas, the queen’s diamond jubilee lunch, bonfires in the green and I’ve also won the Hamlet’s junior photograph competition in the past. This summer I’m going to Kenya to help run a summer camp for orphaned kids in the Maasai Mara. The programme is a project that aims to improve the lives of underprivileged children through the provision of education, home support, counselling, free medical care. I will be helping to build s
