Hi All, Making good progress with Wales in Bloom, I meet Alison last night at church all windows will be decorated, the grass will be mowed, before judging. I am meeting her tonight at the church hall to speak to the Scouts leader. He would like to contribute and we were hoping they would do some tubs outside church hall, I will let you know,

Treasure Hunt

Grandad's beans.

Following the receipt of the this story several members of the haqmlet have taken the beans to keep this 100 year old tradition going Grandad's beans. Some notes. The story goes that when granddad was in France during the first World War when they were withdrawn from the front for rest periods he was billeted on a French family. When he left he mentioned how much he enjoyed the beans that they grew and the lady of the house gave him a bag of seed to take home. He grew these on his allotment, saving new seed each year, until he died. WALES IN BLOOM

We have entered and paid for this year’s entry. The judges will be visiting between 3 and 15 July, we will be informed nearer to the date. We have been given advance notice of the 50th Anniversary dinner to be held in September (the evening before the Awards Ceremony) on the 15th September 2017 in Pembury. Discussion took place on how we can significantly improve our chances of upgrading to the Gold Award. Mark feels the stumbling block will be the lane, we need to improve the visual effect. Between 10.30pm last night and 06.00am a burglary to a barn and a workshop occurred in Mounton Road, Bayfield, Chepstow. Progressive Supper

There is no better way to cement old and new friendship than over good food and good wine and the progressive supper did just that. Old neighbours were delighted to welcome several new residents and as always the evening was filled with laughter, fun and great food. Twenty guests walked between houses for each course (which was needed to work up enough room) to enjoy so many great dishes. As always Richard's quiz was thought provoking and again the men won! The raffle also raised a healthy amount and at the end of the evening £365 had been raised for Hamish for Africamp and Rhiannon for the London marathon and her charity.
