
Bethel Cemetery
Jeff, the gardener, has started work on Bethel cemetery which was in dire need of tender loving care. We couldn't see some graves as they were so overgrown with brambles and the large tree in the centre had totally enveloped everything. Jeff is cutting back and taking some of the lower branches off the bottom of the tree.

Piper Alarm
Carl Jefferson contacted us recently to let us know that his neighbour who is in her nineties had had a fall whilst putting out her bins. It makes you realise how vulnerable elderly people are when they live alone, who may be unable to call for assistance in such circumstances.
We have done some research on the subject and have attached information from Newport City Council on their piper alarm system which can be used to call for assistance. It mentions a cost of £1 per we

Bird Watch
Many thanks for your entries in the community bird watch. Analysing the results makes interesting reading. Pets
With more time to spend with our pets and plenty of time to play or just sit and watch them why not take some pictures with your phones. Likewiswith plenty of time to watch the wildlife. It would make a great calendar. If you have found any new walks for your dogs please share.

Bulb planting
Although not able to meet up in normal fashion the committee continue to work. Mark wants to set the roadside banks ablaze with colour so you can expect to be receiving bulbs to plant along your frontage. We hope you will be only too pleased to join in as it will add even more impact.

Wales in Bloom
Although there will be no Wales in Bloom competition this year, there are destined to be some wonderful gardens in the community as the weather has been sunny and so many are forced to spend so much time at home. Remember to take photos of your achievements as they will be great for next years entry which has been held over. Either send you pictures to janet.myers3@sky.com or post them on the chat line.
