Running the London Marathon
On Sunday 23rd April 2017, I will be running the London Marathon in aid of Alzheimer's society. I'll be the first to admit this is a MASSIVE. challenge for someone like myself who is miles away from your average athlete and hasn't come close to running a full marathon before!! I'm trying to raise as much money as possible for the Alzheimer's Society, because this is a charity very close to my heart. A few important people close to me have suffered with the disease. It really is heart breaking to see people you love become unable to recognise who you are anymore, or even themselves. [if !supportLineBreakNewLine] [endif]
From this first hand experience I can say for a fact what a genuinely brilliant and worthwhile charity Alzheimer's society is. Not only does the charity provide support to individuals and families suffering from this cruel disease, the charity also funds vital research. Dementia research is desperately underfunded. As it stands there is no cure for Alzheimer's disease or any other type of dementia, the disease is terminal. The money I raise for the London Marathon will go towards this research, which will hopefully find a cure for this disease. I know what I've experienced is common in today's day and age. So many other families loose people they love to this disease. Shockingly 1 in 6 people over the age of 70 have dementia. So please please help if you can! Whether you can donate 50p pr 50£ I'll be eternally grateful, and it'll definitely keep me going over those 26.2 miles!
