Dear the Old Hamlet of Llanmartin’s Residents Association,
My names Hamish and I live in Llandevaud. I’m currently studying my A levels at Caerleon comprehensive school. I’ve been part of the old hamlet community all my life, coming to such as events at the barns at Christmas, the queen’s diamond jubilee lunch, bonfires in the green and I’ve also won the Hamlet’s junior photograph competition in the past.
This summer I’m going to Kenya to help run a summer camp for orphaned kids in the Maasai Mara. The programme is a project that aims to improve the lives of underprivileged children through the provision of education, home support, counselling, free medical care. I will be helping to build schools, rescue centres and clinics for the children who live there. In Kenya, we will be visiting the children's homes and make a real difference and contribution to these kid's lives who I know I’ll come to love and care for. During my time in Kenya, I will also undertake the challenge of climbing to the peaks of Mount Suswa (2,356m) and Mount Longonot (2,780m). I think the experience will be life changing, not just for myself but for all the kids involved.
I was wondering if there was anything I could do with the old hamlet residents association to help raise a portion of the money for the trip like perhaps a small fundraiser or a small donation in return for perhaps an article in your magazine with pictures and details of the trip.
Thank you for your consideration
Yours sincerely, Hamish Myers
