THE BIG LUNCH – HOG ROAST
This year’s Big Lunch was a Hog Roast which was held on Saturday 29 June 2019 on the hottest day of the year. The afternoon was opened by the Mayor Will Routley who was accompanied by the Mayoress. Will has a special affinity with the village as he is the Councillor for the Langstone Ward which encompasses Langstone and Llandevaud.
The afternoon opened with a Dog Show which was judged by our local vet ‘extraordinaire’ who had 3 great categories for judging. The dog with the kindest eyes, the dog with the waggiest tale and the dog she would most like to take home at the end of the day. The Hog Roast and the surprise deserts supplied by the ladies in the village meant that everyone was well fed.
The afternoon progressed with games, stalls, raffle etc. The money raised was for a very good cause – St David’s Foundation/Hospice which is a charity very close to the hearts of many of our members.
Our next event – Harvest Supper will support the Mayor’s own charity – The David Pearce Foundation which aims to support all youth who require help – be it of a sporting or more practical nature.
