Platinum Jubilee Beacon Lighting Event

On the second of June at Pencoed Castle the community will light one of the 1,500 beacons which will be lit throughout Wales, England, Scotland, the Channel Islands, Isle of Man and UK Overseas territories in recognition of The Queen’s long and selfless service

Simon has graciously offered the venue for 150 guests to be up close and personal but the beacon will be aloft and visible to many in the locality. Tony Ford has worked his magic and our beacon is a tribute to his craftsmanship.

The evening commences at 7 pm and will include a hog roast, entertainment and a mobile bar. Access is via the Magor Road

The lighting will be preceded with the sound of a piper at 9.30 pm playing “Diu Regnare” as a personal tribute to Her Majesty. At 9.40 pm three buglers will play a unique Bugle Call, entitled 'Majesty,' and to the strains of a ‘A song for the Commonwealth’ the beacon will be lit at 9.45 pm by The Deputy Lord Lieutenant of Gwent Dame Claire Clancy D.C.B. D.L.

As one of those living in the immediate area around the castle you are invited to be present. The cost of the hog roast is £5 and admission will be by ticket. Children's Jubilee Lunch box is £2.50 If you and your family would like to take part please hurry to book your place. Tickets can be ordered at or from the Llanmartin Committee.

We look forward to a fun filled evening and meeting you there

God save the Queen
